Summer drawing to a close

Well, school begins again for me on Tuesday, so I thought I better update our blog before I get too far behind! I'll be going to class mainly in the afternoons to learn how to do fillings, dentures, cleanings and other dental work, along with starting in the clinic this year. I'm excited to do more than just study now but a little nervous as I'll be joining a new class! We are sad that the summer is coming to an end but are looking forward to this fall. Unfortunately, Bjørn is still out of work...they decided to not hire people back at the refinery this fall but hopefully he'll get back there in the spring. In the meantime, he's looking elsewhere--remember him in your prayers! He did get a call from Canada asking if he'd like to come back...it's very tempting to go as it's good money but it's no longer an ideal situation having a son now! We're not worried, though, as God always provides! :)

Okay, now for the fun stuff about Leif! He's learning more and more every day--what a fun age! He can hold a sippy cup by himself and is tiring of his baby food (he'd rather throw stuff off the highchair). He initiates peek-a-boo which is pretty cute, bobs up and down to music and tries to comb his hair if you give him something that looks like a comb. He waves, even to strangers at restaurants, and he enjoys jumping on the bed (with help) or in his crib. He especially loves playing a game of "I'm going to get you," in which he crawls quickly to the kitchen, looks back to see if we're chasing him, then proceeds further upon which we descend upon him and tickle him. Then we let him go and he races to the living room. We go back and forth, and he chases us too. His newest thing is to "blow out" the lights (he blows and we turn off the light--it's cute because he blows with his tongue making "T" sounds). He also turns off the lights if I hold him up to the switch...he must think there are two ways to turn off lights! We get a lot of compliments for how content and alert he is. Even when he's tired, he's pretty observational! He can put rings on posts and balls in holes now, and on my mom's 50th birthday (Aug. 31st), he took his first steps! For now he prefers crawling though;)

We made a second trip back to Minot in July so Bjørn could repair and tile his parents' front steps. They were falling apart!
Cutting the tiles
Finished (before they were cleaned)...they turned out nicely!
While Bjørn worked, Becca, Kinsey and I took Leif to the Minot zoo. It had been a long time since I had been there!
Sharing Cheerios with the donkey
And ice cream with Great-Grandpa Sevig (who turned 94 while we were there...Great-Grandma Sevig also had a birthday and turned 89)!
At Kinsey's softball game
Leif waiting in anticipation while Aunt Kinsey takes a swing! Way to go Kinsey!
Leif loves laundry!
Leif sandwich!
What's underneath here? Leif helps us find his pacifiers now underneath his crib, which is pretty funny.
Lundgren reunion at my Uncle John and Aunt Laura's in August...it was wonderful seeing family and relatives!

Summa-wrestler stance
"So big!"
Love the hair!
Bjørn got to go to Brett Favre's first Viking pre-season game at the last minute with some friends! It was Bjørn's first Viking game as well.
Thank you, cousin Riley, for lending us this toy chair--Leif likes it! He is discovering his climbing capabilities as well! The colored crayons sing "lalala" and Leif tries it too.
In Fargo over Labor Day weekend...cousin bonding
It's so fun that they are close in age!
Bjørn was in Chris and Kristine Cartagena's wedding while we were in Fargo.

Leif likes to kiss the animals in his beloved "Numbers" book!

July journeys

Hello everyone! Leif here!
Here I am stuck in the piano legs at Grandma and Grandpa Hanson's. It's been a busy month! With Daddy not working this month and Mommy done with the Boards, we had lots of time to travel to see family! We went to Rapid City then Minot and stopped in Fargo on the way back home. It was the longest road trip I've ever done. I made sure we stopped a lot to stretch our legs, eat, and change my diaper. Other than the driving, we had a great time! I even went on a hike!

I've been learning a lot this month also! I can give kisses (I don't quite get the smooching part but I lean in with my mouth open), clap my hands (I know what "clap hands" means and also clap sometimes when you tell me "good job"), give high fives, crawl really fast, and climb stairs. I am also good at coming up with new facial expressions. I really like my Gerber snacks and Cheerios...life is good! Okay, here are the pictures...

Letting cousin Riley's wild bunny go free--he didn't want to leave quite yet!

Our family while frisbee golfing with family in Red Wing
I'm ready for our trip! (yes, I was strapped in my car seat, don't worry)
Grandma and Grandpa got me a new Strider bike (invented by a local Rapid City guy)! I just need to grow a little bit and will then be able to walk with it. I will most likely never need training wheels with learning on this bike!
Mommy and Daddy went on a hike with Grandpa to "Hippy Hole." Not many tourists know about this location in the Black Hills!

Hiking "Sunday's Gulch" near Sylvan Lake...I got to ride on Daddy's back for 2 1/2 hours!
I did really well on the hike and even slept for the first 45 minutes or so...
Many tall rock formations

Mommy was tempted to go through this narrow passageway but decided against it!
In Minot with Grandma at Kinsey's softball game!
Grandpa coaches Kinsey's team
Visiting with Great-Grandma and Grandpa Sevig...four generations!
I like grass!
I really liked Great-Grandpa's walker, especially the wheels! I followed him around the living room and tried to climb up it.
Back home, learning how to roll balls to Daddy
I love knocking my books off my shelf.
That's it for now!
